How to Make Someone Else’s Special Event About You

How to Make Someone Else’s Special Event About You

Picture this. You’re at an event that’s special to someone else, but somehow you still have to make it about you. So you refuse to be in the group photos, then make everyone take a second set of the exact same photos with you in them, and make sure everyone notices enough to ask why. And just like that, someone else’s special event becomes another opportunity to revisit your poor-me past situation.

Walking Contradiction

She always says anyone who says something negative about her must be miserable or unhappy. But then she goes on podcasts and publicly shames Jason, making digs at him to an audience that's exponentially larger than any individual commenter has. If it's wrong for people to say mean things about her, why is it okay to do it to someone else? Her constantly being a walking contradiction made me stop being a fan long ago.

Talk about performative

For someone who talks a lot about authenticity and calls out performative behavior, it's interesting how every new city or relationship comes with a brand-new sports identity. This isn’t genuine fandom, this is whatever happens to be closest and most relevant in the moment.

If they weren’t in the finals she wouldn’t give a shit. That’s not a fan.
