Day 36 into PayPal dispute. Scammer admitted to not sending concert tickets to PayPal but still no resolve to the case
On May 29th I paid a seller for some concert tickets with goods and services. This was after doing the usual asking for proof of the tickets which he sent me a screen recording going from our chat to Ticketmaster and clicking transfer on the tickets and being able to fill out my info (seems to be a fake version of Ticketmaster) after I paid he asked me to send him a “proof of purchase” as request by PayPal. That’s when I knew it was a scam and instantly got in a chat with PayPal support where they created the dispute for me. I uploaded basically the whole chat. In those screenshots it shows the seller telling me to request for a refund, hope I get a refund, and apologize for it not working out and the deal failing. So now to wait for PayPal to close the case. Well a few days before June 18th the original resolution date he uploads “tracking” info for digital tickets. Then on June 18th he unblocks me, apologies for what happened and tells me he can transfer me the tickets through apple wallet (more proof he never sent tickets) once I tell him that’s not how ticket transfers work he blocks me again and I go to PayPal’s chat and show them that screenshot because by then the resolution date got pushed back to July 8th. A few days go by and I go through the chat again and am told to call the dispute center which I do. I am put on a hold while they review the case and am told that I won my case 100% (asked them exactly that if I 100% already won my case) and that it’ll take 5 days to close the case. So I wait those 5 days and on July 3rd when nothing happens I go to the chat again and am given this
“This is the response from the seller: The buyer isn't going by the rules of buying tickets he was just in a hurry to report paypal and dispute after payment when we were not able to access the payments nor get him the tickets he is just too forward about About tickets if he definitely wants refund not here and not like that Tickets payments are not refunded like that "Please ensure you comply with our policies going forward.
These rules are in place to keep the process fair, secure, and smooth for everyone. Continued failure to follow them may result in restrictions or no refund in payment" He knows this very much I don't agree with the buyer”. Once again having him admit to PayPal directly that he didn’t send the tickets and now I wake up July 5th to being told my case got extended to July 14th. I genuinely don’t know what to do or why this is happening. I’ve never had issue with PayPal’s dispute system taking longer than 2 weeks for a refund and I know if I go through my bank it’ll reset everything and I just don’t want the scammer to get away with this.
