AITAH for refusing to pay extra fare that the bus driver tried to charge me out of nowhere

This was yesterday and I'm still annoyed about it honestly. I take the same bus route pretty regularly so I know exactly what the fare is. I got on, told the driver where I was going, and handed him the amount I always pay. He looked at me and said the fare had gone up and I owed more. No notice, no sign anywhere, nothing. I asked him when it changed because I hadn't heard anything about it and he just said "recently" and held his hand out. Something felt off. The other passengers around me weren't being asked to pay more. I mentioned that and he got a bit defensive, said it depended on the stop. That didn't really make sense to me either because I've been going to the same stop for months and the price has always been the same. I told him I'd pay what I always pay and if the fare had genuinely changed I'd look it up and adjust next time. He wasn't happy about it and we held up the bus for a little while which I felt bad about, but I wasn't going to hand over extra money based on nothing. He took what I gave him eventually and I found my seat. Looked it up when I got home, fare hadn't changed.
