Starting last week and continuing this week I keep receiving voicemails from 1) some guy saying he was with “DDM Group” asking for an employment and address verification on behalf of a retained client and saying correspondence would be sent out within 7 business days. And 2) this week receiving a voicemail from a lady claiming she was with “CRS Processing” calling about a certified document delivery to my home residence and also my employer’s payroll department. She gave a callback number and also said I could call the “filing party” at the same number the guy from call #1 referenced in his message. And now today I get a third call from the guy in call #1 saying they were referring me for a “civil appearance” since they were unable to gather a statement from me regarding some random file number. This is some elaborate scam attempt, right?
The only reason it kind of freaks me out is because I have been enrolled in a debt relief program for the last 6 months that’s been going well for me otherwise, and I know there is the off chance that an aggressive creditor could sue me for nonpayment even under my program. But this still feels fishy to me. I got a couple calls over several days back in May that kind of followed the same script, but never threatened legal action or process serving, and nothing has come from that to my knowledge, either.
