“The best study habit an achiever has is 8 hours of sleep,” I say at 2 AM & dehydrated

before you can use AI as your second brain for studying, I have a simpler advice.

this might sound like the most hypocrite but relatable advice you’ll ever read, and somehow sleep is always the first thing we sacrifice when school gets instance.

hell week for example.

but…the more I study, the more I’m convinced that sleep is part of studying, not the thing you sacrifice for. When you’re exhausted, you read slower, forget more, and spend twice as long on things you could have finished quickly.

and it has a domino effect (horizontal) and other piled up health effects later on (vertical).

so instead of stretching a 1-hour study session into 3 miserable disguised as “toxic productivity” hours, do this instead;

1.) SLEEP - just sleep, bro and study with an actual functioning brain the next day.

2.) WRITE - at least 3 things. When you’re too tired, just scribble even incomprehensible phrases of what you need to accomplish the next day.

3.) HYDRATE - drinking water helps us more than we realize.

these are basic things that most of us ACTUALLY neglect. remember, 8 hours of sleep IS NOT a reward nor laziness, it’s maintenance.

Anyway, I’m saying this at 2AM, so clearly I’m still in the experimental phase

Krzywy Las, the Crooked Forest near Gryfino, Poland, is a grove of Scots pines planted around 1930, when the area was still part of Germany. Each trunk bends about 90 degrees near the ground before growing upright, and human shaping for curved timber is the leading theory.

Standard web search APIs are kind of terrible for LLMs. Here is how we fixed our RAG pipeline.

When you first try to give an AI agent web access, it seems easy: grab a search API, pull the top results, dump them into the prompt, and let the model do the rest.

But if you actually run this in production, it falls apart immediately. You realize pretty quickly that standard search infrastructure was built for human eyes, not LLM context windows.

If you just shove raw web data into a model, you hit three massive walls:

  • The token tax is insane. A single webpage is mostly HTML junk, tracking scripts, and navbars. If you aren't aggressively stripping that out, you're paying a fortune in tokens and killing your application's speed.
  • The model gets distracted. When you force an LLM to read through cookie consent banners, sidebar ads, and "recommended articles," its reasoning goes out the window. It starts hallucinating because of all the background noise.
  • SEO ranking ruins real-time data. Standard search engines prioritize historical SEO authority. If your agent is looking for a breaking news event or a software documentation patch that dropped an hour ago, standard search usually returns stale, heavily cached pages instead of the actual answer.

What actually worked for us:

Instead of just doing a naive search-to-prompt loop, we had to change our architecture.

First, we stopped passing raw user questions directly to the search provider. We use a fast, cheap model to rewrite the prompt into strict, time-bound keywords first.

Second, we stopped using standard browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer) to scrape Google or Bing. It’s way too slow (taking 5+ seconds) and fragile. We switched to dedicated APIs built for LLMs (like Brave, Exa, or Perplexity) because they pass back pre-parsed markdown payloads in under a second.

Finally, we don't trust the API's default ranking. We grab the top 10 or 15 snippets, run them through a quick reranker, and only send the absolute best 3 sentences to the main model.

How is everyone else handling this? Are you guys relying on pre-built agent tools, or did you have to roll your own custom parsing pipeline to keep costs down?
