Got my inspection report back. Why are some of the roof rafters completely black? Some look totally fine. Could this be soot from the fireplace that comes up through this attic or severe mold issue?

Got a septic inspection back today with limited information. These are the 2 photos I received 1st photo is the inlet side 2nd photo in the outlet side. Both were reported as "good". They are recommending removel of roots. Im hardly seeing much of anything in these photos. This is my first time doing a septic inspection as a first time home buyer any information on what im looking at would be appreciated. This cost $500 located in central KY
