There are some tips I would give every future buy-side professional

I have gathered information for months on end and these are what I found out. Don't waste time on learning how to build financial models. It's better to spend time on understanding the investor's mindset. Anyone can remember a valuation formula or an LBO modeling process. What distinguishes good candidates from other is their capability of giving an explanation "why is this a good investment" based on a well-grounded thesis.

Prepare for each interview asking yourself: What is the investment case? What is the risk factor in it? What could make you change your mind? Why could the market be wrong? things like these matter.

I think this is the approach that companies from Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Asset Management, and Family Offices are looking for 🫣 What do you think? I'd welcome any discussion

I Get Paid to Break Video Games…Not Beat Them 🫣

Every time I talk about how I tested games part-time, people ask me whether I got paid to play video games all day long. One of my early jobs was banging against one single wall again and again. My mission then was to see if it was possible to break through the wall somehow. After hundreds of attempts… I succeeded. My character went straight through the wall and was launched to the skies. And this glitch could actually have given the gamers an upper hand in multiplayer mode. Then I realized that my job wasn’t to beat a video game but to try to break it at any cost. The thing is that the hardest thing about it wasn’t even finding bugs. It was writing down all the necessary details so that developers could repeat and fix them. It helped me understand that being patient and attentive is as important as being good at video games.
