The all time worst commute ever
I get to Penn station and discovered that all trains in and out out Penn station are cancelled and that I need to do the Path Hoboken thing. I get to Hoboken and the PA system calls the 6:38 Dover train at track 17. I go there and people are going the other way.. They say .it's now track 14 per NJ Transit app. Sure enough, the PA system suddenly blurts out track 14. I rush over to 14. By now there are two train loads of ppl waiting. Then the PA says Dover train to track 16. The horde runs over to 16 and wait like supplicants to a capricious god. Praying for the train doors to open and admit their unworthy, sweaty bodies. The dread PS system booms again: Dover train to.track 10!. We all shuffle to train 10 and are admitted into the cool AC cars. It is now 730 pm and the train has yet to leave the station. Latest announcement is that a bridge between Hoboken and rest of NJ is out due to signal issues and they expect a minimun wait time of 60-90 minutes.
Update: it's now 8:00 pm and the train finally left. I guess they fixed the bridge faster than anticipated. I actually got a seat cause 75% of the passengers exited the train upon hearing the projected train delay. Hoping to finally get home within an hour or so. To everyone else beginning their evening commute home, I wish you the best of luck!
Update 2: I finally made it home, took a much needed shower and am grabbing some dinner. It's now 10:22 PM. I left my offfice around 5:30 PM. Today's commute: about 5 hours. Just another day on NJ Transit..
