I just hit 5,000,000 words on AO3, an I wanted to thank the Merlin fandom for being a huge part of that. I think my Merlin fics count for a solid percentage of that total these days.

I write a lot of fic, ranging from under 1000 words to more than 500,000 words in length.
Someone commented "short but sweet" on a 15k story, and it gave me pause. Like yes, it is short compared to my longer ones, but it also represents quite a lot of work.
So I thought I'd put the entirely subjective question to Reddit. What length of fic is "short" to you?
(I read all lengths of fic and have a fast reading speed, but if I'm looking for a nibble rather than a banquet, I look forward 5000 words or less.)
All right, this is a specific fic I thought I had bookmarked and now can't find!
All I remember is Arthur getting a soul mark. He's trying to scrub it off in the bath but it's not working. I think it's of two soaring birds on his chest.
Merlin doesn't have one that Arthur can see, but it turns out he's using a glamour to hide his scars which also hides the soul mark.
Merthur. Not hugely long? (Maybe somewhere around 10-20k)
