At Last I've Killed You

Within these peeling walls,
Heeding the wailing call,
It had been months and the ground still shakes,
Gutless aim, dead center at your heartache,
Shameless woman, beg her for a clean death,
In your heart, she won't hang no more,
Swinging in your veins till you're done for,
All alone, you begged her to,
Leave, at last, and salt the earth behind you.
At last I've killed you,
In my heart, no hunger pangs, hurting to be fed,
No more writhing, you're already dead,
No foul scent of mourning flesh,
No waiting till your final breath,
No peace, bid for scorching heat,
Know,
I helped you offend and repeat,
Claim passion's defense, when the walls still stood proud,
All saw your fire and never the smoke,
I gave my lungs and inhaled it all.
When the dust settles, you remain dead;
When all turns to ashes, the ground stills,
For a moment or two, I think of you,
Phantom fumes leaving a stain behind,
Heartless exhaust still burns through the mind,
Though I think of words that corrode,
Nothing kills like a heart, forced to take the highroad,
Though I dare to leave these filthy walls,
Her unrepenting wails beg for my heart to stall,
They echo in a room I outgrew,
In the end, I loved my griefs more than you.
