Bought a set of these and loving them. Question though, can I hold these dumbbells by the plates?

I’m talking for exercises like dumbbell pullovers, seated behind the head tricep extensions etc. Exercises where the grip preference is to hold the dumbbell vertically from the plate with two hands. Rather than horizontally from the handle.
