If you error out when making a lost baggage claim online, try including your middle name
After bagpocalypse at LHR, I was told to make a claim online on the mybag.aero website. I couldn't make one and got the following error:
"We are sorry but no data can be found for this name and PNR combination. Please enter your PNR number, given name and family name as they appear on your boarding pass. If the problem remains, please contact our local baggage tracing office at the airport."
I tried calling a dozen times and no response, but then I checked my boarding pass and my name was listed as LAST/FIRST MIDDLE. Once I used first middle as my first name in the baggage claim site, I was able to file a claim normally.
If you're having the same problem I did, this may be worth a shot. It kind of seems like airlines arbitrarily decide whether to use your middle name as part of your first name and every once in a while it actually bites you.
