Dogs and Yeast - I could use some education and help...
Our dog regularly has a high yeast count in one or both ears, and also in her hair (Labradoodle). When this flares, it is another trip to the vet. The vet confirms the high yeast count, and provides various meds to help control/treat the situation. We've had very limited success with the yeast returning every few months.
Poor dog has a number of allergies and she is on Cytopoint, a custom made allergy serum, and was until recently on Apoquel and then Zenrelia but unfortunately experienced a known side effect of Zenrelia and had to come off of it.
Can anyone help me to understand where the yeast comes from and whether there are any ways to control it? It doesn't seem like bathing keeps it under control. I see some advertisements for non-medical solutions but don't know whether any of those will work.
