AITJ for Manipulating the Government So I Can Win a War?
I (16F) was recently selected to serve in an annual war held by my country’s government, along with another boy (16M) from my area. It’s honestly a really disturbing event that the government sensationalizes and when you’re chosen, it’s basically already a death sentence. And here’s the kicker: only one person can win.
Both the boy and I used whatever tactics we could to survive, but we knew only one of us could win. But then people started sending the both of us gifts, so we figured... maybe the government would be a little lenient with us both? So for the last bit, we just kinda tricked the government into thinking we were in love. (Despite the fact that, I mean, I barely knew the guy before this all started). And we kept up that charade until it was only us left.
They eventually folded and ended the war with two winners instead of one. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am so extremely grateful to be alive right now, and I’m happy he is, too. But I feel so terrible that somehow WE were able to change the laws of this war but others before us couldn’t, and so many lives have already been lost. I don’t think it’s fair. AITJ?
