Curious about the origin of conventions, and did anyone like the dramas?
So two part question - before JW conventions started, were other conventions already a thing in the US? In the UK as a child, "ours" were the only conventions at all - it was only about 20 years ago that we started also getting comicon and star wars conventions, that sort of thing. I've always felt that JW conventions felt like an American thing and I'm wondering if that was true or did JWs actually invent them (and then Star Wars saw them and thought "this could actually be fun with just 2 ounce of effort"?)
Part two: As a kid I was told that I enjoyed the dramas. I didn't enjoy the dramas. The beards were clearly fake, even seen from 80 yards away at the far end of the stadium. THe lowest point (which I think was the last convention I went to) came with the line "But the Amalekites are so dreeeeeamy" (in a very whiny, nasal tone). Did anyone enjoy the dramas?
