Realtor is retiring - how to handle?

I learned through a 3rd party that my realtor is retiring at the end of the fiscal year. My realtor has not told me that yet. Were I am at the market has been pretty dead for what we want but is starting to heat up just a little bit. My significant other has had another realtor in her pocket through a work connection who would take us in a heart beat. Our contract has officially been up with our actual realtor since this winter but we never re-signed it because of how dead the market has been (we haven't even looked at a house since fall). Is it wrong to simply jump realtors before the season ramps up? We'd prefer to work with the other realtor rather than stay with one at our current brokerage.
