Only got 16,000 miles on original tires
Several days ago I noticed my tire tread was looking a little low. I thought it was odd since I’ve only put 16,000 miles on my 2025 Ascent in the last ~15 months. I rotate the tires every 6,000 miles.
I took it in for an oil change a couple of days later and they called it out too, measured at 4/32. I could take them to 2/32 but I read at 4/32 you should start looking for replacements since hydroplaning risk drastically increases at 4/32. We have a big family road trip coming up so I decided to go ahead and replace them with CrossClimate 2’s from Costco, as we’re in CO with all of the seasons.
I looked online and apparently this is not uncommon on original tires, since they don’t have a treadwear warranty. I’ve read some folks get mileage close to mine, others get closer to 30,000-40,000.
