To all my fellow Xperia 1 V users who lost 5G, don't worry just yet
Like everyone else here, I updated to the June 2026 firmware and lost the DSDS trick. My device no longer has 5G, and VoLTE is affected too.
I wanted to make this post because I'm currently spending a lot of time looking into what changed and whether there's another way to get 5G back without rooting or unlocking the bootloader.
A little about me. I'm an Android developer by profession, Xperia has been my main phone for years, and I also run the YouTube channel CinemaSpace4K where Xperia devices are a big part of the content. This isn't my main Reddit account, but I've been around this subreddit for quite a while, and my own device is affected as well.
I can't promise there will be a solution, but I'm going to give this everything I've got over the next week or two. If I manage to bring back the old DSDS method or find another way to enable 5G and VoLTE, I'll post a full guide and make a video on my channel so everyone can follow along.
Currently I hold a SO-51D which hasn't gotten an update. But I have access to a DQ54 device and couple of other variants which has got the update and lost 5G.
For now, if you can, I'd ask you to hold onto your device for another week or two before giving up on it. There's still a chance this can be figured out.
