8 YoE Data Engineer — resume keeps getting rejected, can't tell what's wrong
I've got ~8 years total experience (6.5 in data engineering proper) — Azure/AWS, Spark, Kafka, Databricks, MDM, some recent GenAI/agentic work. Based in India, applying for senior data engineer roles.
The problem: I'm getting rejected at the resume stage. Not failing interviews — just not getting them. So either my resume isn't landing, or there's a skill gap I'm not seeing, and I genuinely can't tell which.
Two things I'd really appreciate honest input on:
The resume itself — what's making this get filtered out? Formatting, the way I've written bullets, keyword stuff, the summary, length, whatever. Be blunt.
Skill gaps at this level — for someone with this profile aiming at senior DE roles, what do you usually see missing? I want to know what to actually go build or learn.
