How Much Do Students Usually Spend Per Month and found a group for Uni of Bristol Freshers

Hi everyone! My name's Sanya.

my_qualifications: I’m an incoming student at University of Bristol. I’ll be studying Marketing starting in 2026.

I recently joined a University of Bristol 2026 freshers group, and many students are discussing how to save money while studying in the UK. I wanted to ask current students, especially Indian students, about the typical monthly cost of living in Bristol.

I would really appreciate it if current students could share how much they usually spend per month in Bristol, excluding tuition fees, including typical costs for rent and accommodation, groceries, transportation, and eating out or social activities. It would also be very helpful if you could share any practical tips on how to save money and manage living expenses as a student in Bristol. It would be really helpful if you could mention whether your lifestyle is budget-friendly, moderate, or more comfortable.

update: I’ve heard that most shops and supermarkets are closed on Christmas Day in the UK. If I need to buy food or other daily essentials during that time, are there usually any convenience stores, small supermarkets, or takeaway shops that remain open in Bristol? I’d also appreciate any advice on whether students should stock up on groceries in advance before Christmas.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. 😊

Found a WA group chat of University of Bristol and how can new students get scholarships?

Hi everyone, I'm Sanya, I’m a incoming student at the University of Bristol and will be starting my studies soon. I recently found a student group for University of Bristol, which seems helpful for connecting with other students. https://chat.whatsapp.com/HWOQkgSlEVr5i8r9ieQ1X4

my_qualifications: I have already accepted my offer from the University of Bristol and am currently preparing for IELTS.

Most scholarships have already closed😭, I also wanted to ask if anyone knows about scholarships or financial support available for international students (especially Indian students) at Bristol. Have any of you successfully applied for scholarships after receiving your offer, or are there any external funding opportunities you would recommend?

I also wanted to ask whether University of Bristol accommodation is assigned randomly, or if your preferences are taken into account when rooms are allocated? Are there any chances to change accommodation later on or are there private accom nearby the school?

Thanks in advance!
