Ugly Copy Still Winning Over Beautified Versions
I have a Meta campaign with 10 static ads (instant forms) for high ticket course. The current winner is an “ugly” ad that was originally a past winning copy, which I scaled and then redesigned to look better.
I also created multiple variations using the same structure but different headlines, CTAs, and color schemes.
Despite the improved designs, the original ugly ad still gets most of the leads, even at 1.9 frequency, and Meta barely spends on the other versions.
Should I:
Keep the original winner running,
Pause/delete it to force Meta to test the new creatives,
or
Increase the budget by ~20% on the second-best variation to give it enough spend?
What’s the best way to test better-looking versions without hurting overall performance?
