Converted IIM Calcutta with a 5 in grad

Converted IIM Calcutta with a 5 in grad

When I first started this journey, converting IIM C wasn’t even a dream, something only to be appreciated from afar. Still does not feel real. I haven’t processed it yet. Maybe it’ll hit when i first reach the campus, or on a random day. But the thing I know that I’m truly grateful to god and my parents whose prayers materialised. This journey took a lot from me, but in return gave me a lot too, an attitude and temperament I’ll be carrying all my life.
Managing prep along with working full time (noida to Gurgaon daily) had been a roller coaster. I used to question my life decisions everyday. I’m glad i pushed through. When I got the call i had no hope of converting it. I had rejected myself even before the college had the chance, but I’m so glad and grateful that I did not carry that attitude with me into the interview room. The only advice I can give is that “they don’t care” about the red flags you have in your profile, if you show a version of yourself who has realised and worked on their mistakes. I owned my mistake in every interview. Prepared my grad subjects so well that i was able to answer almost all the questions from my syllabus in every interview. Sometimes I felt that the interviewers got more impressed due to the contrast with my acads as it creates curiosity, makes the interviewer want to get to know you more (my opinion) because the only thing people y more than a success story is a comeback story.
Don’t walk into the interview rooms with any mental barriers. Always remember that you belong there, that’s why you were called. I may still face issues in college during sip’s and final placements (if someone can give more clarity on this it’d be very helpful). But I’ve learnt to turn the lows and the uncertainty into fire which gives me a boost.
Congratulations to everyone who have converted their dream bschool, and all the best to those still waiting for results/ waitlist movement, congrats on making it this far without breaking, many people don’t, in the long term these uncertainties will cater towards our mental endurance. May everyone convert their dream bschool🙏🙏.
