Vinted closed the case and refunded the buyer despite me providing evidence that the item in the buyer’s photos was not the same item from my listing.

The original listing was an XS Gymshark Onyx V5. The buyer’s photos showed a different design and a size S label. I repeatedly pointed this out and submitted comparison photos, but Vinted concluded the item was “counterfeit” and refunded the buyer anyway.

The most frustrating part is that the mismatch itself was never properly addressed. It feels like once the word “counterfeit” enters a case, sellers are automatically assumed to be at fault.

Just a warning to other sellers of collectible/branded gymwear on Vinted: document everything carefully because seller protection in swap disputes feels extremely weak.

Hi all, quick update on my situation (original post about a buyer trying to return a different item).

I sold a Gymshark Onyx V5 (XS) on Vinted, and the buyer is attempting to return a completely different item (different design + size S).

Vinted has now approved the return, despite the clear mismatch, and asked me to provide evidence. I’ve submitted:

  • Original listing photos
  • Proof of size (XS)
  • Direct comparison showing the buyer’s item is different

It’s now been 3 days with no reply, and the case has been ongoing for over a week. At this point I’m essentially being told to accept a return of an item that:

  • Is not the one I sent
  • Appears clearly inauthentic

This feels completely unacceptable from a seller protection standpoint.

Has anyone dealt with Vinted taking this long or siding like this?

Any advice on pushing this further or protecting myself if they force the return? Appreciate any input.
