I’m stuck at 2% CTR… what am I doing wrong?

Travel YouTubers, I need your advice please 🙏🏼

I feel like I’ve tried almost everything when it comes to thumbnails and titles, but nothing seems to drastically increase my CTR.

One thing I’m wondering is: should you put the destination name on the thumbnail?

For example you can see the thumbnails for my two most recent videos. I’ve also tried thumbnails without any text, but the CTR was the same or even lower.

I would also love to hear about your title strategies: What has actually helped you increase CTR?
If possible could you share some examples?

For example, I tried creating a curiosity gap. My thumbnail said “Osaka”, while the title was:
“I thought Tokyo would be my favourite city…”

The idea was to create a contradiction and make people curious. YouTube actually pushed that video quite a lot (30k impressions), but unfortunately the CTR stayed between 1.6% and 2.2% 🥲

So I am wondering:

• Do you include the destination name in the thumbnail?

• What title strategies have worked best for you?

• Do you focus more on curiosity or clarity?

• Any examples of travel titles/thumbnails that performed surprisingly well?

One small request for anyone checking out my channel to give feedback: please only base your feedback on my Osaka and Nara videos.

I learned a lot from my earlier uploads and I’m already aware of many of the issues with those. Their thumbnails and titles will eventually be changed, so I would prefer feedback on the two most recent videos.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Hopefully the comments can help other travel creators struggling with CTR too 💪🏼
