I made a travel video on YouTube that blew up (600K views) and now I don't know what to do

Too broke to afford another trip anytime soon. This was my shot and I've fumbled it.

I only have one video that’s done okay, shall I just stick with that style of video?

As you can see all my videos flopped lmao, nobody gaf about them.

However my Safari video was very different, it was 95% voice over style and the others were more vlog style… do I just stick with that style moving forward?

How much should you cut down a video

I’ve loaded all my clips in from a 2 week campervan trip. The total currently sits around 5 hours. This is just purely everything recorded so could be a fair bit of waste. How much should I try cut it down without losing content. Do I just do it in 2 1 hour parts or try cut it all to 1 and a half hours.

With all the commentary about views dropping off a cliff is it worth holding off uploading?

There seems to be a lot of chatter in the last week or so that shorts and some long form content that used to get thousands of views now getting zero, zip, nada. I have experienced the same. Is it worth holding off uploading new content until the algorithm gets back to some form of normality?

Mean comments

Just needed a minute to vent because ‘wow’, I guess I didn’t realize how awful people can be.

We did a more generalized video that it is about getting out there and doing some of the tougher Travel itineraries while you still can, whether it’s age or health issues or what have you that get in the way.

The video has done incredibly well, and overwhelmingly positive comments, but it amazes me that there are those few that are just so incredibly mean. The ones that tell you how much they hate Americans or mad at us because we have the finances to Travel or one person that actually wished that our knees would give out on Machu Picchu. Isn’t that fun?

And why is it that for every 100 good comments, the one mean one that comes in is the one that sits with you the longest?

Rant over- back to life. Have a great day everyone

Did I do something to piss YouTube off? Shorts (or Reels) suddenly do not get any views anymore

For months, I have been publishing two shorts every week. They are 10–15 seconds long and feature travel content, mostly beautiful places in Taiwan or Japan. And I do not show my face, just one location, or several travel highlights/landmarks,

All of the videos are my own creation/content, include subtitles, and have descriptions with additional information. Before they used to get like a few hundred to a few thousand views plus a handful of likes.

But for the past two weeks, my shorts have been getting almost no views.

Did I do something wrong? I never upload the same content twice, although some shorts cover similar locations or themes. I am wondering if YouTube has somehow flagged my channel? Anyone had this issue?

Daily Vlog

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for travel YouTubers who upload a new travel vlog every single day whilst they’re actively travelling.

Not creators who upload weekly or only during special challenges I mean channels that document their travels daily and consistently publish one video every day.

Do you know of any good examples? I’d love to find out how they manage filming, editing and maintaining consistency whilst travelling full time.

Thanks in advance!

How many travel myths do creators accidentally keep alive because everyone repeats the same thing?

We were told over and over that Holland America was “only for retirees” and a terrible choice with a 5-year-old. We made the trip anyway… and our experience couldn’t have been more different.
Have you ever made a video that went completely against the internet’s consensus?

Less frequent but consistent uploads or frequent followed by breaks?

After travelling for a couple months need to return to work for some money for atleast a few months. I upload every fortnight on average so far but was thinking of upping things to every week while im back at work. This will mean I run out of content in roughly about 2.5 to 3 months. I will probably start travelling again in about 3 months at earliest but find it difficult to travel and get footage (I fast travel) and edit at the same time so will have so might be looking at a potentially 1 month + stop in content if I switch the frequency. I thought if I get things out there faster would give it more time to get views and subs but have heard negative things about taking breaks at the same time.

Do you think its better to stick to less frequent but consistent (i.e. keep on fortnightly) or up it during times when you have footage and time and then take breaks when you run out

I tried surviving in Bangkok for 24 hours with only $20… and it went better than I expected.

I recently visited Bangkok and wanted to see how far just $20 USD (about 700 baht) could get me in an entire day.
I ended up eating from local street vendors, grabbing snacks from 7-Eleven, trying small restaurants, and seeing just how affordable the city can be if you know where to look.
It honestly surprised me how much food and experiences fit into that budget. I filmed the whole challenge because I thought other travelers (or anyone curious about Thailand) might find it useful.
If anyone has done a similar budget challenge in another country, I’d love to hear how it went. And if you’ve been to Bangkok, what was the cheapest meal you found?
If anyone wants to see how it turned out, I’ll drop the video in the comments if that’s allowed.

The 'Erase Song' feature of YT is Amazing

I've been a Travel Youtuber for 2 years now, and it's the first time I tested their new Background 'Erase Song' feature. It's amazing how AI is able to completely delete the background music while also retaining the original ambient noise and our voice. I'm so amazed I have to share it here, it indeed does reduce the amount of time of re-editing a video due to background copyrighted music.

Hotel affiliates program with CPC?

Are there any hotel affiliates programs paying per click? Tripadvisor’s hotels affiliate program used to be this way but they ended it on June 1. Now all the others I see like from booking, expedia, trip etc are all paying only on actual booking. Tripadvisor used (small commissions) per click and also actual bookings
