I started posting in January, and was editing nonstop for months, releasing videos once every 2-3 weeks (20 to 35 minute long). But then I had to pause and plan a trip because I was running out of content. I just completed my recent trip, but there’s been over a month-long gap in posting. How do you juggle this? It takes me 2 to 2 1/2 weeks to edit one video.
For context, my content isn’t travel vlogs per se. It’s more of a blended subject matter documentary with vlogging content. There’s always an overarching story i’m trying to tell, and it’s tied to how communities live/are impacted—which I think makes it harder for content because I have to identify a unique story first versus going to a place and just showing pretty sights and food.

I’m trying to figure out if Shorts actually work for a more personal travel/lifestyle channel.
Most advice I see is based around:
That’s not really what I make.
My content is more:
Less highlight reel, more “this is what it’s actually like living here”.
On my more commercial-style travel content, Shorts are easy. Quick, clear, they perform fine.
But with this more personal stuff, I’m not seeing the same effect. Clipping moments from longer videos doesn’t seem to hold attention, and I’m not sure it’s bringing in the right audience anyway.
So I’m curious if anyone here is in a similar niche:
Feels like this style of content doesn’t naturally translate unless you almost “rewrite” it for Shorts.
Would be good to hear from people doing more reality-based travel/lifestyle, not just highlight content.

Just had my first breakout video holy moly. The comment section is wild. Lots of great people but wow a lot of lunatics out there 🤣
Curious what others ratio of travel time to video is. Depends on where youre visiting and what is happening, but Id say generally it takes me about 4-7 days of travelling to get enough to make a video as a beginner.
I have been using youtube studio library but honestly don't find it that great. Do you use another site? Do you think perhaps may be worth it to just use popular music up until the point of monetization
I’ve been posting regularly for the last few months, once a week (long form vlogs 10-25min). However, now I’m just overwhelmed with editing one of the new ones and I had to skip one week and now I will skip another two due to work. This new vlog I’m editing is probably my most ambitious and longest edit yet and I don’t want YouTube to not push it fairly enough due to the break I have to take. Do you think it Mather’s for the algorithm if you take a break like this?

I post videos weekly. This was last week's. The latest video up is already surpassing this one in views which surprises me because I thought this video was going to do very well. Perhaps better than any of my other videos.
How much of this do you think I can chalk up to the thumbnail I chose? Should I change it to one of the shots I put in the preview at the start of the video?
Thanks 🙏

I have started an youtube channel showcasing the beauty of India, like the culture, tradition. Temples, food etc.., the subscriber count initially got increased within no time. In a short span of 15 days, managed to gain around 70+ subscribers, but now, it's been a month that the subscriber count has got stagnated at 95.
For now, most of the videos uploaded were shorts. I will upload long form videos on gaining significant subscribers. Where am I going wrong?
There's something off about the colour but I can't quite figure it out. It feels too yellow but when I make it cooler it looks too cool toned, I've changed the LUTs and the other LUTs I have make it look even worse, and turning down saturation makes it look grey.
Specs:
What can I do to fix the colour?
Posted a video recently where all the comments are negative in some way. One is fair enough, but the rest all are along the lines of accusing me of misinformation (which is strange, as these are my experiences and things backed up by research on google... i.e. saying needing unfolded bills if you want to exchange USD for local currency or likely being refused by exchanges in some countries)
This is my most commented on and also most viewed video so far and I'm definitely keeping it up, but just curious what you guys would do or have done if this happened to you
I’ve recently started uploading atmospheric travel videos from Japan. Mostly quiet walking shots, city atmosphere, temples, nature etc. No talking, more like a calm travel diary.
I’m curious if anyone here is making similar videos and how you approach growing your channel. I’m also still trying to figure out how to reach the right audience for this kind of slow travel content.
Would love to exchange ideas or check out other channels :)
