Does holding items in both hands give you any negatives. Like not being able to quickly grab something because your hands are occupied?

I am currently keeping one of my arms free, because I'm afraid that holding two items will give me hidden disadvantage to hand related skills.
But does it actually exist, or am I limiting myself for nothing?
