Lots of upgrades being done here, I love all the greenery!

Every day I come here and it’s the same Toronto photo. And I mean the SAME photo. Blue glass, lake, CN Tower, maybe a sunset, “Manhattan of the North 🍁”, 4k upvotes. Then tomorrow someone reposts it standing 3 feet to the left and it gets 4k more.

Does nobody else see this?? It’s the same five condos. The same three developers built all of them. It’s literally ctrl+c ctrl+v. There’s no architecture, it’s a spreadsheet that learned to be 80 stories tall. And they call it “Manhattanization” like it’s a flex. Buddy you didn’t get Manhattanized, you got Excel’d.

And I looked it up. TWO HUNDRED cranes downtown right now, more than any city in north america, “no other city even comes close.” Ok except half of them are condos nobody bought. The thing is in an actual recession right now. Like 8000 empty units, prices down 20%. So that beautiful glowing skyline at night? Those lights aren’t people. That’s vacancy. You’re posting a pic of an empty fridge going “she’s gorgeous.”

AND ANOTHER THING. The CN Tower is not a building. It’s not. Look it up. CTBUH won’t even count it because less than 50% is occupied, so it’s officially a “communications tower.” It’s an antenna with a gift shop. It’s a really tall radio. You built your whole identity around a thing that legally does not qualify and you have the NERVE to clown on Oklahoma City. At least OKC’s one sad tower is a real building.

Anyway I took the ferry to the island last weekend to see what the fuss was about. Raised my phone. Took the photo. It was the same photo. Course it was. We’re all just taking the one photo over and over until we die.
