Newer car high mileage or older car low mileage?

Going to get the toyota version when i can afford it since that has the largest used market cap, all the brz are old and well driven. The trend im seeing is that cars from 2013 have about 40k miles and those from 2017 have about double that distance, yet the same price.
All of them have allegedly never been winter driven (rust belt)
Which one would be the best buy? Could save even longer and get a 2020 model with a bit less than 40k miles but costs 30% more, if thats a better bet for long ownership.
