Next step lowering her

TLDR: Would you come back to platform, find new platform, or try to save this car from the flood damage?

Oct 5, Made 11 years of ownership of this amazing 2016 6spd manual, pulled off the lot with 5 miles. In that 11 years we have done over 300k miles, crossed that barrier on Sept 25th, sitting right about 301k as of yesterday. All original drive train, only mods were borla cat back, intake tube and drop in, light weight fly wheel (done around 80k when TOB went out, only major repair). And most recently at 280k (Oct 2025) put in Tein RX-1 Coilovers with a .75 drop as stock suspension was ready for replacement.

I loved this car, the profile (always looking back at it), the fun drive, great gas mileage for as much driving as I do, just all around it was the car I could see myself not parting with ever. I would over look the only 2 doors and limited boot space as it carried what I needed but was not always easy to get things in/out. That was an admission price I was willing to pay though for the rest of both our lives.

The bad, woke up this morning to water in the floor boards and a high flood/water line on the doors. Road has never flooded in my owner ship of the car, rain had stopped for the night, and I was asleep. I reviewed my security camera and it looks like around 11:57p water started to pool and rise and by 12:10a it hit the high water mark. Guessing something got blocked in the sewers and it just back up with now where else to go.

Oil looks good, no water in intake, but exhaust was under for 2-3 hours, not sure if anything got into engine via that route. Below center console did not get wet, and it was still under the glove box for max height so around under seat bottom maybe just touching the bottom of the seat bottom.

Filing an insurance claim as I don't have the time or space (no garage) to pull the interior store it to dry out, and hope that there are no future gremlins on the electrical side. Future gremlins are my biggest fear with as much as I drive. So I'm not sure it's worth trying to save it myself.

With all that said, I'm sure insurance will total it, I wont get enough to replace it outright due to the mileage, even though the car was pristine inside/out and well maintained. Quick looking locally, there is not many 1st gens in my area untouched or very mildy modified. I'm thinking if I stay with platform I will need to get a newer 2nd gen, or leave look for something else.

What else is out there I should be looking at if I decide to not come back to plat form. Would love something that gets around 30 MPG (was averaging 32mpg for life of car), rwd or AWD not looking for FWD, fun to drive, manual transmission would be a great plus for fun factor. Was thinking even a GR Corolla for the extra doors and bigger boot. Or picking up a decent commuter for the next 12-18 months and waiting for the 2028 release with a toyota motor in it.

I used to love shooting the stars and haven’t really been out to capture them in a while. I’m a little close to the city in these so they are a little washed!

Was doing the eps bushing and tried to use the Hyundai one, cut the nipples off, and put it in. Was tightening this back down, wasn’t really close to being flush yet but had some tension and this snapped relatively easily. What the hell do I do??

Hey guys just got my sti rear hubs with axel nuts in the mail.. currently shopping for rear rotor as I do not want to re drill my stock rotors. Im interested in the two in the pictures, any advice or opinions?

I have this 2017 Toyota GT86 and installed a TRD front spoiler. I was wondering if there is a splitter that goes underneath the trd spoiler. So far i could only find splitters that fit the non trd bumper.

I am currently thinking about the next mods fo my car. Since a lot of things i have already done it also came to my mind which modifications i would definitly do again and which where not worth it.

Not worth it i would go with STi Diff mounts.
Besides the obvius (Exhaust Coilovers Wheels and Tires) i would go with TRD Transmission Mount.

So questions to you: Which mod did the most impact and you would defintly do again and which was definitly not worth it?

Was ridiculously fun and I can finally push the car to 10/10th, which I will not do when I drive on public canyon roads. They say "Miata is always the answer" for track days, but the 86 is the better answer.

Car is mostly stock except for wheels (Titan7 18x8.5), tires (245mm RT615k), brake pads, and camber bolts. The only reliability mods are a GR86 OEM heat exchanger (oil cooler), cheap Megan alum radiator, and 2/3 liter 5w30 overfill.

It performed amazingly well in 95F weather at Streets of Willow Springs in SoCal (did 5x 20 min sessions) and drove home 150 miles with ZERO issues.

And unlike the Miata, there is also so much storage space here that I easily packed a big shade tent, multiple chairs, tools, etc. to comfortably hang out.

The balance was completely neutral and very forgiving at the limit. I am a beginner and overcooked a few corners but it didn't spin out on me.

Ive got a CEL P0171 code and ive come to the conclusion that the car either needs a tune or needs the stock headers put back on, what do i do? Its got aftermarket headers and aftermarket intake as shown in the picture. It sputters only at highway speeds from 3-4k rpms its a 2014 FRS
