How bad does this clutch look

TOB finally give up on my 2014 BRZ with 66000 miles, pulled the transmission out to replace it, this is how the clutch looks, I ordered new clutch kit with flywheel but I have a drifting event coming up in a week, so I’m not sure if the new clutch will arrive in time, would you even consider putting this clutch back on? Or I’m just looking for trouble?

My first ceramic coating and it looks amazing!

Spent the best part of 6 hours today giving my 86 a makeover. Several washes, clay bar, DA polisher, panel spray and finally ceramic coating. I'm broken. My body aches. It's been about 28 degrees here today (don't worry, my car was in the shade from about 4pm onwards so the paint was cool). And the part where I started the ceramic coating coincided exactly at the same time as the flying ants emerge from their nests, so i was having to swat ants off everything too. Not ideal. But it's done and I'm so chuffed with how it looks. It's even shinier in person too. If you've not done a ceramic coating yet, it's definitely recommended. Just be prepared for a lot of prep 🫠

How to fix starlight headliner with projector cut out

A few months after I bought my car I realized it has a starlight headliner installed, but I didn't know how to use it. A friend recommended using an app that automatically scans wireless RGB controllers but nothing popped up, so over the long weekend I took it apart a bit and found that someone who owned the car previously just cut the strands at the projector, is there a way to fix this or would it require replacing all of it?

Check SRS Airbag System Warning (2019 GT86 AT, 193k KM)

Popped up a few days ago, didn't hit any bumps, wasn't speeding or taking corners, the road was flat, straight and smooth, it just decided to pop up while I was cruising.

Any suggestions on what could have caused this?

Could it be a spiral cable issue?

Is there a cheaper way to fix it?

can please someone explain coilovers to me?

recently picked up a beautiful frs 2.0 release from my local dealership and i am so happy with my new toy. been dreaming of owning a ft86 since i was a kid and im just truly happy to have it in my driveway now.

dealership told me the car was stock and no modifications have been made to it, and i honestly intend to keep it that way. it’s been so fun to drive and she does what she needs to do. however, i recently hung out with one of my buddies who used to b heavily into the modding scene and he took a look under my hood n pointed out how my baby has some coilovers installed already.

im pretty sure coilovers don’t come stock with the frs and ive been surfing the web for more information about it but i figured your guy’s perspective would also help if i just described what was going on. (the homie is also asleep rn and i don’t wanna bother him)

from what ive read, the coilovers are a suspension mod, and they are adjustable. my buddy mentioned some things abt camber and alignment and tuning, but i’m gonna be completely honest, i am still quite new to the car scene and i really only know some surface level knowledge.

how hard is it to adjust these coilovers? the car does sit a lot lower compared to my previous one (which i thought was already pretty low) so i would b open to raising it a few inches. main reason for this is cuz the roads in my area are pretty sketch, so i can feel nearly every bump in the road, but would raising it really help fix that issue? but also how does a coilover effect camber? im still a bit confused on how a coilover necessarily works too…

would really appreciate it one of yall could enlighten me, ty

Fitting issues in the trunk. Need help

Hello everyone I have an airport pick-up in three days for my friend. Just wanted to ask if two 30 inch suitcases would fit in the trunk of my GT86 or not or have you guys ever tried fitting anything close to this measurement? Will it be possible? If not then I'll have to arrange for a bigger car. Thanks

Locksmith says he has the wrong key part for my 2020 Toyota GT86 (all keys lost) — ELI5 please, I know nothing about this

Locksmith says he has the wrong key part for my 2020 Toyota GT86 (all keys lost) — ELI5 please, I know nothing about this

Explain like I'm 10 — I don't know anything about car key programming, immobilizers, or any of the technical terms. Just trying to understand what's going on and what to do next.

Here's my situation:

- 2020 Toyota GT86, all keys lost (zero working keys)
- Called a mobile locksmith who came out with a "Smart Pro" tool
- He was able to pull codes and delete the old keys from the car
- But he said he needs "the right part" / has the wrong key, and can't finish programming a new one
- I've had someone successfully make me keys before in this exact all-keys-lost situation, so I know it's possible
- He mentioned needing to call Toyota / having a subscription with them, but then also said Toyota was "closed" — I think this was a separate issue from the part problem, but I'm honestly not 100% sure which thing is actually blocking him at this point

Questions:

  1. Is this really just a wrong-part issue (wrong key blank/FCC ID for my exact car), or could there be something else going on (subscription/access issue) that he's not explaining well?
  2. What's the exact part I should tell him to order, or where can I find the right part number for my VIN?
  3. Is this a "any locksmith" job or do I need someone with special registration/access for 2020+ Toyotas?

Any help figuring out what to ask him or order myself would be huge. Thanks!

Help!!

I bought a semi clapped 2013 scion frs open recall 116k miles for 9.6k… I lowkey got burned. I love this fucking car though so should I keep it and maybe have to dump money just to keep it working or sell it back at a loss.

Edit: sorry guys my mothers maiden name is capser and my first pet was “jack black” it has the valve spring recall and yall are right it’s minor stuff just excessive wear on the e break wheel bearing sounds tensioner pulley I’m just worried I’m going to end up regretting not jsut getting out from under the car I genuinely can’t afford another 2000 in repairs maybe over the next year but not soon (I can I won’t die) it’s just uncomfortable as fuck I fear I made a hasty decision

I’m so glad to be a part of this community now. All tips and known problems are welcome!
Also, if anyone knows a good replacement for just the front mesh, that would be amazing.

Borla S-Type Catback Exhaust question

I have a 2013 Scion frs, and I ended up buying this exhaust from a guy for a really good deal. When I took it to get installed, the mechanic mentioned that the OEM donut gasket wasn't the right size for the connection. He said there's a chance it could develop an exhaust leak over time, if it isn't already leaking.

This might've been my fault since I bought an exhaust that doesn't technically fit my car. I had heard from other people that it does fit, though. Has anyone else run into this issue with this exhaust on an frs? If so, what size donut gasket did you end up using, or did you just stick with the OEM one?

I ended up installing it with the OEM gasket, and I'm not sure if it's related, but I think I'm getting a bit of drone. I've never experienced drone before, but after a long drive my ears feel kind of clogged, and I almost feel deaf afterward lol. It mostly happens around 3,000–4,000 RPM. From what I've heard, this exhaust isn't really supposed to drone, so I'm trying to figure out if it's because of the gasket or if that's just how the exhaust is supposed to sound. Overall, though, I think the exhaust sounds beautiful it is perfection!

Thank you everyone!!

Tried installing a tow hood on my car but the mounting point is off and it makes contact with the bumper, anyone know how to fix this or what could be causing it? I checked the crash beam and it all looks good so kinda stumped

What Oil sandwich plate would you recommend?

Hey there!

To prep for more Nurburgring fun, I'm planning on getting an oil radiator. A friend of mine recommended a sandwich plate adapter (sorry for the white flag language settings) but can't say I really trust AliExpress much on these parts. Is it safe or are there better alternatives ?

Otherwise, the 2012 engine is still going strong ! 5k kms oil changes and refreshing are worth it. Oil is still coming clean afterwards. And it's now got a good baffle plate.

Cheers

The closest I could find is HTAutos splitter, but it still isn't an exact match from what I can see
