Why did one of the aunts have a video recorder at the ball?

In the scene with Agnes getting the little figure from the cake, they said Gilead doesn’t have plastic. These video recorders are always made of plastic, even if it was made out of another material it would have been way too heavy.

Next, no one watches TV, not women anyways. They also don’t show men watching TV. They don’t have TVs.

Was this a weird recording for them to like let commanders wank to later? The whole scene just felt really odd with the one aunt all joyful with the video recorder being the focal point of her character in that scene.
