Vintera2 with weird bridge.

So.... I was going to start playing with the setup on my recently bought 2nd hand vintera2, and was going to start looking at saddle heights.... Then discovered my vintera2 has no saddle height adjusters.....

It looks very much to me like I have Squier cv saddles on my bridge (but the bridge is still vintera2?) does this seem to be what it looks like to anyone more familiar with the different kinds of fender offset bridges? I think this might explain bridge lip buzzing if I have ended up with Squier bridge radius on a vintera2 bass.

Also it looks to me like the bridge movement has been gumned up with electrical or plumbers tape. I'm assuming that I can just remove the bridge and clean that up. Once I sort out what's actually been done to this guitar... Right now the bridge doesn't move for pitch up movements (when tremelo lock is off) but does move a small amount for pitch down.

I'd like to have a solid idea of what's going on before talking to my seller. He did not mention anything about bridge mods when selling it.

Also if there's anything else you think I might want to check isn't messed up now, that would be good.. vintera2 is meant to have better tuners and pickups than a Squier isn't it? How would I tell if those had also been changed?

Hi all!

I got a 2nd hand vintera II bass VI the other week. it's lots of fun to play, but I am getting a bit of buzz playing up the neck sometimes - seems like it's a "mode" that it gets into and I can reset by stopping and pushing down on the bridge... but this is also a very different instrument to playing guitar which I'm more used to and I do notice that badly fretting notes will also get buzzing.

I think the strings might be hitting the bit of metal that curls up at the font of the bridge.. they are very close to it. Also sometimes I think the saddles might move around on the bridge (though strings don't pop off or anything) I guess I was wondering, for a bass VI noob, how do I figure out exactly where buzz is, and how do I figure out what might need adjusting?

The previous owner has definitely mucked about with it a bit.. sanded the back of the neck smooth to get rid of the stock varnish and it looks like there might be plumbers tape in the bridge holes. the setup feels good and seems quite low, considering, though I'm not used to playing bass VI so not sure how it is relative to others.

Ideally I want to get this setup as right as it can be before I decide I will do anything like swapping parts out. have never owned a fender offset before so it'd be cool to see exactly what the factory version does when setup right, and learn what it allows and doesn't allow before I change anything.

Can anyone with good experience give me a quick vintera II relevant list for what you'd check/do when receiving one for the first time? or things to look out for specifically for this model? there's so much stuff on the Squier CV but not much on the Fender vintera II

I did find that youtube video from totally wired guitars who runs through a setup of one out of the box that had all sorts of little things that needed work. I guess that setting up the bridge from scratch will be my starting point. though first I will need to get some tools because I have nothing - I've never really had to do anything at all setup-wise myself with my guitars in the past so this is all a bit new.
