I'm sure there's a simple way to do this, but I can't figure it out. I don't have much experience with shaders.

I want to have my model have two diffuse textures, one that shows when part of the model is lit and one that shows while the model is in the shadow. I want it to be toon shaded.

Ideally I'd like to be able to do it in the internal renderer in 2.79, but I'm happy to do it in cycles/eevee or in a newer version if necessary.

I've found posts online that talk about doing a similar effect, but not quite what I'm after. Normally when I hit a snag in Blender I can find a tutorial or someone else who's had trouble, but I'm having trouble this time.

Any help would be much appreciated, even if someone can point me to text/video guide.
