Bought a brand new pair of Converse Chuck Taylor loafers and noticed a weird thin plastic-like layer along the side/sole right out of the box. After wearing them once, it started peeling/flaking even more and now looks almost like skin coming off the rubber edge.

Has anyone seen this before? Is this just excess factory glue/protective coating, or is it a defect/delamination issue? Trying to figure out if I should attempt to clean it or file a warranty claim as I’ve already worn them and prolly can’t return.
