I solved problem with game by increasing ulimit to 65535. Why it worked?

I need adult for this.

Deep rock galactic had update and I could not start it anymore.

I had game parameters gamemoderun %command% --rendering-driver vulkan that I copy from other games and this game from protondb.

And game crashed every time with one or none. I used chatGPT for help again and it told me that it might be problem with system, because there is not error in terminal indicating problem with proton or something else.

After it told me to increase ulimit to 65535 from I think I had 1024 and restart, the game start working with no problem.

Can somebody tell me why is it working and should I keep 65535 ulimit? It is dangerous for user PC for internet and games or is it ticking bomb?

One of my friends told me it should not cause any trouble on personal PC for games and internet. Chatgpt recommended 4096, 8192, max 16384, unless i had server, then I can keep it.

This is a place, where I don't want to believe chatGPT and want human help.

Can you get virus for playing windows apps or games on Bottles?

I am sorry if flair is wrong, I have no idea what to pick.

I just started to use Bottles, because Wine, Lutris, Faugus and Heroic failed me.
I tried my best for Wine and Lutris with same result Ubisoft launcher being stuck at loading.

Bottles work out of box and for me (unintelligent person) in linux and that is big win.

My question is, if there was a virus in app or game I want to play, will that virus be dangerous when I start it with Bottles or the virus will be useless, because I use Linux or get stuck in Bottles, where is nothing it could do?

Is there a way to make numlock enable after startup without xnumlock?

I have no idea, most people say to install xnumlock and add it into openRC file.

I was on arch wiki and they wrote I should go to xfce xml

~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/keyboards.xml

and add two lines of code

<property name="Numlock" type="bool" value="true"/>
<property name="RestoreNumlock" type="bool" value="true"/>

I already had them there and still numlock is not enable after startup.

What another special thing I need to do to make it work.

I still use X.org

I always went into update app and when it say you system is up to date, there was also setting that put you into update setting, but not anymore. I tried the setting app and there is update, but it launch update app and i am back where I started.

I have a very weird problem.

My keyboard has special button next to "y" and "shift" that is "\" and for some reason I cant use this button in shortcut to mute my microphone, because then my button for letter "q" stop working.

I found out that this is the problem
keycode 24 = q Q q Q backslash Greek_OMEGA backslash

For some reason my "\" is on same line as "q". In other words I can use alt+q to write "\".
And this is probably why my shortcut make my button for "q" stop working.

Is there safe where to make it work?

I have no idea where to ask. I wanted to go at Archlinux subreddit, but I cant if I use Artix.

I use Artix and use Arch repository for Discord, but Discord got update and I cant use it. I could figured out manual update, but chatGPT told me, it is only recommended, if I also made manual install and not from repository. So I am now stuck with webpage version until it is going to be updated.

Because I am very new to Linux, I have no idea how often is repository updated or should I do something for them to help them know or something?
