Connecting backstories to campaign or make backstories sidequests?
Hi, im currently running Rime of the Frostmaiden with 9 players at the moment, 6 of them are the main core which have connected backstories into the campaign somehow but i have a feeling that its become more of the main story than the main story of the Rime of the Frostmaiden, even if the players see the damage on the world that their actions and lack of interaction did that they are still wanting to finish their backstories quests than follow the main arc.
Im not saying its bad for me its just something new and i dont know if this situations is good or bad. The players are always coming to sessions (sometime few misses becouse work, life, etc, no hussle) and started having memories from it and even roleplay more.
Whats your thought? And i wanted to know how do you design your backstories sidequest that are connected somehow to the main plot?
