What state are you in and how much are you allowed to receive per month? In CA I know a couple people who are getting 1400-1600 a month (an absolute joke) and are considered ineligible for food stamps?!?

What do you do for housing and other bills??? I'm terrified of eventually having to give up my delicate balance of working fulltime a couple years, burn out, and go back on SDI for a year until I find a new job and do it all over again. I can't afford to be banished to poverty income and punished for earning anything on my own like selling my art.
