GR9 northbound, Apt to Grenoble: tips and GPX?

Looking to start this trail from the Apt area on Friday, take 11-12 days.

Does anyone have any experience with this section of the GR9 they could share? Is it worthwhile?

What is the best site to download an up to date GPX file, as it looks like the trail has had several minor reroutes around grazing areas in the past year or two.

GR54 in questionable weather or look elsewhere?

Advice welcome. I fly into Paris Thursday morning. Had planned on 9 days on the GR54 from this Friday then maybe the Chartreuse crossing for 4 days before flying out of Geneva.

But it looks like the weather is turning a bit nasty, especially Thursday to Saturday and again mid next week.

I only have two weeks to hike. What do all you experts recommend?

  1. Deal with the rain on the GR54, maybe taking a couple of ‘zero’ days when it’s too wet and maybe skipping high passes and missing some good views. Or….
  2. In order to make the most of my two weeks, go somewhere completely different with more reliable weather where I can hike each day.

If so, WHERE???? Section of GR 6?

I am fit and can cover 30k+ a day. Prefer bivouac but campgrounds ok. Strong preference for a single GR so I don’t have to worry about route planning given I have little planning time.

Thanks!!!
