Sharing some cool and fun builds

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. I recently made a large asteroid using a world gen mod, and built a base with the idea of giving dupes excellent living standards, and more importantly, test out some of the many interesting builds I found on the web, as well as some build ideas of my own (which tend to be a lot less refined than the rest). Due to the sheer size and abundant resources of the world gen, survival was never an issue, nor was it the primary concern for this save.

I tested many builds in this save, and a few really stood out for not only being reliable, but also having some very cool designs. If folks are interested in these builds, I might start a project where I translate some of the guides.

A game-changing mod used in this save is insulated fast-sealing airlock, because building liquid-sealing doors became a bit too tedious, (however none of the builds I'm sharing here requires this mod, as the airlocks can be easily replaced with any sort of liquid airlock), another mod used in this save is the butcher station mod, which again, won't be featured in any of the builds I'm sharing...

  1. Banquet hall + Kitchen

https://preview.redd.it/unfhi2wmdo8h1.png?width=1854&format=png&auto=webp&s=7cfe795f3c70131d906c1f46ccb48840080d730c

Two dedicated dupes work at the kitchen full time, dupes have a lot of options to choose from, as the kitchen serves mushroom quiche, pepper bread, surf n' turf, frost burgers, mixed berry pies, shellfish tempuras, fish tacos, sushi rolls, Nigiri, and Uni, as well as an endless supply of cavier. The kitchen also uses leftover ingredients to make berry sludge and pemmican for space travel, and eventually I want to fire them across the galaxy to feed experiment 52B

This build is modified after this guide from Bilibili user 毕春b, and is the easiet build I'm sharing: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1n8UJB5EA7/?spm_id_from=333.337.search-card.all.click&vd_source=86d009c8b892bbc2ac1b27e96177ac1e note that it uses a game mechanic where miniscule amounts of gas doesn't exchange heat with surroundings, allowing perma food preservation. If this feels like an exploit to you, the middle section can be replaced with the good ol' refrigerators.

Still needs one more mug :(

  1. Somnium Synthesizer cabin:

This build is my design, hence why it is a lot less compact/elegant than the rest, but it's a fun one. The eight dupes here are allowed two slots of free time where they use the bathroom and eat their meals (the rest of the colony is cut off from their living space, biobots deliver their daily meal and supply the water filter), they spend the remainder of the cycle doing nothing but sleep. No more than two dupes are awake at any given time, so nobody is fighting for the bathroom. This setup keeps the Somnium Synthesizer running permanently, I deliberately look for dupes with diver's lungs to minimize oxygen supply.

  1. Farming complex

https://preview.redd.it/jiznk9w1jo8h1.png?width=807&format=png&auto=webp&s=9798d209329fe06483b795ee6750b1a0c9537e86

This is actually three farming modules stacked on top of each other. From top to bottm, they produce: pepper bread, mixed berry pie, mushroom quiche (in conjunction with a pacu module), the modded airlocks can be repalced with a regular manual airlock submerged in two layers of liquid to achieve a simlar effect.

Guides for these modules, as well as many other food production builds can be found here by veteran player 转基因冰西瓜: https://space.bilibili.com/1644202127/upload/opus, what's cool about these builds is the fact that they are all designed to be 18 blocks wide, so that they could be stacked atop each other.

These modules each feed 16 dupes with the farming station enabled, and 8 dupes with it disabled.

  1. Glo squid module

https://preview.redd.it/jb7zab72ko8h1.png?width=1695&format=png&auto=webp&s=61f5cdff9e7335a515582add7623559c2d3f81ae

These critters are quickly becoming one of my favorites, the ink yield from just three tamed squids is insane, and easily feeds all of the ranches. Once this small setup is up and running, the calamri yield is also crazy. This build uses a very cool mechanic where the aquatuner heats up the pool for the squids, while also super-cooling the puddle in the top left, new-born squids flops into the top left puddle and evolves from freezing.

This build was originally designed by 清汤白菜粥:https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1UYJH6ZEUL/?spm\_id\_from=333.337.search-card.all.click&vd\_source=86d009c8b892bbc2ac1b27e96177ac1e, however, in order for this design to run smoothly, I've found that adding the Liquid Tepidizer at the bottom is necessary. This is because without it, the sulfer in the storage cools the pool, causing the aquatuner to keep running, eventually cooling the puddle in the top left so much that the it turns to ice.

  1. Pacu omelette module (compatible with new update)

https://preview.redd.it/s4y9pvw1lo8h1.png?width=1540&format=png&auto=webp&s=c353a4dbe42a39b14a7cbecc26c578a559e39758

Modified after this guide from 拿个破笔水:https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1QTJp6vES8/?spm\_id\_from=333.337.search-card.all.click&vd\_source=86d009c8b892bbc2ac1b27e96177ac1e

What's super fun about this build is that new born pacus are introduced into the pond via a timer sensor instead of a critter sensor, and this thing runs smooth as butter, suprisingly. there's also plenty of room in the pond to the left, which I've used for planting Pinpokets. Of course, the steam room also cooks the raw eggs. I added the tepedizer, which, together with the cooling loop keeps the water nice and warm for both plants and fish. There's also some sleet wheet fertilized by pacu excrements that gets turned into pacu treats. A super fun build overall.

I actually welcome the pacu nerf because they were way too OP imo, this build still produces insane amounts of omelette, which get turned inti quiche or fed to the 8 professional sleepers.

  1. Hydrogen rockets

https://preview.redd.it/r2ocyolgmo8h1.png?width=1635&format=png&auto=webp&s=92b5557e93a43afb90574e6ea04e1832386735f2

This is one of the coolest builds I've ever seen, and building it was extremely challenging and fun. When a hydrogen rocket is launched, the bunker doors close and trap the steam, which then fires up the turbines generating a lot of power. Once the steam cools off to around 125℃, a super-cooling loop kickstarts, and you get to see heavy rain and hail pour down inside the rocket tunnel, which is just so awesome. This allows water to be recovered, which can then be used elsewhere. This build also cools the internal temperature of the rockets with a separate cooling loop that doubles as water supply for space travel. It also has a cooling system for both solids and molten materials recovered from space travel.

This might not be the most efficient rocket build, but it's just so cool. The guide made by 恶魔地瓜 can be found here with detailed pictures: https://www.yuque.com/yuqueyonghugcthyx/smfzvl/yn3x055k5tahamoz?singleDoc#

  1. Giant industrial complex

https://preview.redd.it/tqr1k6vbpo8h1.png?width=1004&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0d2438db7c6b6a708b807df5264dee09eea3458

From 南极洲的森林: https://www.bilibili.com/opus/1165037865107718161?spm_id_from=333.1387.0.0, this behemoth produces pretty much everything in the game. However, this build actually consists of three different parts that work well together, but can be built seperately. This system also produces ample power, although I've found that an external supply of natural gas is needed to ensure that this thing can keep running indefinetely with absolutely no issue. (Or if an arbor tree plantation is properly set up)

While I understand that these guides are not in English, and may thus be impossible to read, they do tend to contain detailed overlays, which veteran players can easily understand. If there's a lot of interest in a specific build, I might translate and post the guides here as well :)

There are a lot more builds in this save that I haven't posted, because they are either uninteresting, or have little quirks that prevent them from running smoothly. This save is also still a WiP, and I hope to build and tryout more builds in the future. LMK if you're interested to see more!
