Is there a name for this phenomenon?

Hi all, I studied a small part of linguistics, so I don‘t know how to approach this.
Can someone tell me if there is a word for the phenomenon of mixing up letters in a single word when writing?
For example, writing prttye instead of pretty.

I‘m trying to look it up, but damn it‘s hard. I don‘t know what to search for or who‘s field of research that even is. :‘-)
Found some somewhat similar things that belong to the field of speech pathology, that lead me here.

advice for tatted jewelry?

Hi tatters!
The next lesson in my book is adding beads and I need your advice, because I don‘t usually wear jewelry.

Which beads work well with tatting in your experience and what do you do with left over beads? Is there a good way to avoid having left overs?
Are there any tatted accessoiry patterns/ideas for men or patterns that are less feminine?
Have you included beads in doilies?

today‘s lesson in needle tatting

Next lesson in Hiromi Imaizumi‘s book was two colour work and a little rosette.
Had to hide 8 ends in my two colour exercise because I ran out of both threads at the last ring. Q_q
I struggled with the first yellow rosette, because I placed the two second-half knots that followed right after each ring wrong, but after following instructions dilligently the second tiny one was way easier.

Up next is split rings, how exciting :D

Big threads: Anchor Freccia 12
Small thread: Gütermann Sulky 100% Cotton needles: Pony set (smallest and second smallest needle)

needle tatting progress! :-D

omg I did it!
Got a book on needle tatting by Hiromi Imaizumi, because I love her work on Instagram and it helped a lot. :-))

I‘m especially fond of her way to close a ring in three steps, because it makes getting even sized rings easier than just holding it in a pinch in one place.

It also helped answer my question how to add new thread in a neat way by tatting over thread ends!! :-D I didn‘t know how to translate what I do in shuttle tatting to the needle in a way that doesn‘t come lose, but the answer is sooo simple for a new ball thread:
you do a simple shoelace knot on your needle, parallel to it. The short end should be at the bottom. As you pull it tight, it becomes a tiny half knot. Flip the small end upwards and now you can knot over it as you always do. So simple gosh dang it! XD

slow progress on needle tatting

Does anyone know a more polished way to add thread than knotting?

I‘m making slow progress on the needle tatting front. :D Got halfway through Gail‘s heart, but I‘m cutting it now since I wanna try to do better. :‘-)
It’s still a mystery to me how to attach threat in a pretty way and how to achieve a lark‘s head join, but at least things finally feel like improving.

needle tatters, how do you do 8 rings?

I want to do a chain, followed by a floating ring and right opposite to it another ring, then continue a chain.

But how do you do that in needle tatting?
My experiments haven‘t been satisfying so far :-/

recent follies & trials

I‘m trying to learn needle tatting as a shuttle tatter and wanted to share my first … success? 😂 It’s the Large Heart from Rozella Linden‘s Easy Tatting. Tension is all over, I still feel lost how to move and turn my work or how to do the joins … but it‘s getting somewhere … I hope. Haha

Second pic ist my first go at Frivoliteconsabor‘s Hen pattern with two shuttles. Mistakes were made, but it‘s a joy to work. :D

Third pic is a cautionary tale.
Please don‘t be me, please get glasses if you need them folks. I did that almost blind because I was stubborn not to want glasses and now it‘s unraveling because I couldn‘t see anything trying to close it. :-( Pattern: Usha Shah „Encircled Charm“ using dot picots and overlaying. Love her design!
