Cracked stone

So my dopholder swung backwards when I inspected the last polish on my stone. Hit the machine hard and cracked. I tried the ink trick to see how deep the crack is but I cant seem to get the inc into it, if theres a surface opening a needle cant catch it.

How do I save my stone? Cut or be content with the failure and do the crown?

Flourite final polish

Im a beginner (be kind) and Im trying to get a mirror polish on flourite which I know is difficult since its so soft.. But I cant get past the orange peel effect, even if I slow down to almost no speed, and only lay the dop on the lap no preassure.

Im using a cut denim jeans gluead to a cd then cerium oxide (using what I have haha...).

Should I give up chasing the mirror polish when Im probably missing a leather lap or something else for now and just complete the stone? Or is it possible to get a mirror polish but only with another kind of lap?

Attached an image, not that you can see much but anyway

Show your gem-displays!

Looking for inspiration since I dont want my gems stuffed in a box/drawer and I feel the gem-boxes dont do the gems justice.. How do you display your gems?

I kinda like the way museums do it, some kind of glass cabinet and then different pedistals for the gems.

Beginner setup

Hi!

Sorry if this has been answered which it probably has..

Ive bought some stones and want to give cutting a try, I live in a small apartement so I was thinking of a Dremel and maybe different grits stuck to a table would suffice as a start? I want to do facets and not cabochon. Any help and tips are greatly appreciated!
