I inherited these from my grandmother when she passed and happily wore them on my wedding day. I have no knowledge of their history or value. Any ideas? I can upload more pics if helpful!

They came to me in a Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co box, but the only stamp I could find on the earrings was 14KT. So I assume they’re star sapphires with mined diamonds set in 14KT gold. A jeweller did confirm the diamonds are real. No official appraisal yet.

I plan to keep them for future generations, but am genuinely curious about their value and history.

I got this rough from a man in West Texas when I bought his collection. Had it faceted and was pleased. The stone was almost 3 ct and is flawless, you can even see some play of color which is rare for these stones. NFS.

Hi all! I’ve been looking for a cherry-colored Freeform sapphire/ruby for a custom project I want to have made. I keep seeing garnets and tourmaline, but it seems they are not durable enough for everyday wear.

I reached out to John Dyer, is there anyone else that sources/ cuts (ideally) natural sapphires that might have something in either purplish/reddish/orangish colors? Even better if I can have the jewelry made by the same person. (:

Guild Certified No heat ~ 2.54 CT Cornflower blue Sapphire ~ NFS

I had this one cut into a modified rose cut, that’s what the cutting diagram called it anyway, came in at about 4 carats. I really like the window in it, I’ll set it in a pendant.

This Ceylon gewda sapphire was one of six stones we recovered while washing gem-bearing soil from our gem mine.

The rough weighed 2.98 ct. It was a silky, milky mixed-quality gewda sapphire—exactly the type of material that often responds well to heat treatment.

After preforming, the stone weighed 2.33 ct. It was then heat treated, which dissolved much of the silk and significantly improved the color and clarity. The result was a beautiful royal blue sapphire.

The final faceted gem weighs 1.20 ct.

It’s always rewarding to see how the right piece of rough, combined with careful preforming, heat treatment, and precision cutting, can reveal the stone’s full potential.

What are your thoughts on the transformation and the final yield?

Hi! I picked this Star Sapphire ring up at one of the greatest antique stores I’ve ever been to. I’m wondering if it has the qualities of being natural, as I’ve never seen one before. Photos taken under cellphone light. Love it either way and will be resetting it! ☺️
