Pink Sapphire or Padparadscha?

This 2.5ct sapphire has been certified overseas as Padparadscha. Personally, I disagree. I think it’s a bit too pink. What constitutes Pad color, in your opinion? How do you feel about the label being thrown around in the industry? Is it truly a broad category, or are sellers using it as a way to command higher prices for what are actually pink and/or orange sapphires? Are less reputable labs exacerbating the issue by labeling pads too leniently? Would love to hear what y’all think about this topic.

How do you feel about sphene?

Personally I’m torn. They have strong pleochroism and dispersion which gives them an incredibly unique flare, but i’m not sure if the color does it for me. What do you think?

Some shots of an Emerald

The inclusions, or “jardin,” can tell you a lot about an emerald and the conditions it experienced while forming. You can find fractures, mineral crystals, fluid inclusions, and other internal features, sometimes all within the same stone.

I’m still learning how to use my scope. Any pointers are welcome!
