Years ago, I made a loose spreadsheet with guidelines to make this easier for him and he really knocked it out of the park. The only thing he went with on his own was the band which is actually my favorite part of the ring :)

2.6 ct natural purple sapphire set in 14k white gold, with 3 marquise diamonds on each side (I forget the total carat weight) and with filigree engraving on the shank. My finger size is 4.5.
I got it resized once already, to a size that felt difficult to pass over the joint, but after a few hours it was spinning a bit on my finger again. I didn't realize how much the size of my fingers fluctuate over the course of the day, so it's hard to choose a size that stays put while also not being impossible to get off. Luckily, the first resizing was free! I'd like any advice from anyone who has had similar experiences. Thank you in advance!
Side note for fun: I basically chose the ring with my boyfriend, the only surprise was when he was going to propose. Got it done at Joe Escobar's in San Jose, CA, and it's been amazing every step of the way. We are now choosing our wedding bands there. I wanted a gold bezel because I like more understated, sleek looks, and work a lot with my hands so less of a chance of snagging. It has been beautiful and practical. It is a blue green sapphire- I originally wanted a green emerald, but after learning how soft emeralds are, I opted for this unique color and I couldn't be happier. It reminds me of waters of the Italian coast where he proposed 💕🌊
After 7 years I got my dream ring :) he worked with a local jeweler to custom make the setting after we got the stone from the natural sapphire company. I knew i wanted something a little different and this super deep teal is so so beyond perfect. It looks so different in every light. It’s a little over 3 carat, unheated teal sapphire and i’m a size 5.5🤍
5 year band will be the same as the wedding band, mirrored on the other side. I am so happy.
