Got engaged to the love of my life ! We had the design done locally and sourced the gem ourselves! It’s a 2.59 carat no heat Ceylon sapphire.
We wanted to have custom scrollwork on the side that mimicked old Victorian wood carvings with wave and clam shell motifs.
We also added the clam shell underneath the stone for fun and kept the prongs more “pearl like” for a more ocean inspired theme.
The ring that tells our story, my passion for gemstones, and the timeless romance of Art Nouveau artistry. It is inspired by yin and yang—because we're complete opposites in almost every way. The ruby represents him, the purple sapphire represents me, and the infinity of padparadscha sapphires and diamonds honors six years of loving each other across the distance. It's a reminder that no matter how far life takes us, we'll always find our way back to each other.
The centre stones are padparadscha sapphire, the one on the left is a purple sapphire and 3 in right are rubies.

I had the opportunity to schedule an appointment last Saturday with LCG and had the most wonderful time! The sapphire is the prettiest and most vibrant blue in the sun and a deep blue inside.

My partner proposed on Monday at the zoo, after we fed fruit bats together, and he'd gotten me my dream ring! It's by Ami Pepper, I'd initially really wanted an antique ring but I fell in love with her work when I saw it. I grew up by the sea and I really miss it every day, so to have a ring that reminds me of it every day is really special to me. I absolutely love all the little barnacles and the centre sapphire is so ethereal, it's hard to capture the way light goes though it. Couldn't be more excited!

1.1 ct earth mined, ethically sourced, untreated Nigerian sapphire. It has a tiny black inclusion in the very center of the stone, which is what won over my geology nerd heart. I really only wear silver; I chose 14k green gold because it has a cooler tone than yellow gold, but will stand out from all my other jewelry. Size 6.25.

Finally got my custom ring! I wanted it to be small/not high and organic in nature. I didnt want a diamond and went to for a lightly coloured hexagon Montana sapphire cut by Karineartgemstones. Sapphire imported to NZ from America and made by a small town local jeweller here. Absolutely in love 😍!
Hi friends, I (24M) recently was given this ring by my mother to be used as an engagement ring. She designed it and had it made it made out of her wedding ring between my parents after they divorced. To my knowledge it’s pretty nice, the sapphire came from the same mine as Princess Diana’s famous sapphire ring according to her.
I’ve asked some friends and family what they thought of using it as an engagement ring and have gotten mixed responses. On one hand this is a very nice ring but on the other maybe I want to be the one to pick out the ring? Also sapphire doesn’t scream engagement but what do you guys think?

High Reddit! I came here because I don’t know what to think about this ring. In a small family gathering at my grandma’s, my grandma sisters Donna brought in some old family rings that she wanted to give away to my younger sister and cousins. She slowly went ring by ring in front of the whole family and explained each one’s origin. My sisters and cousins were chomping at the bit to get these rings and she gave them away to the other cousins. Then, she pulled out this ring. I don’t know what it was but when I saw this ring, I just knew that I needed to have it. In my opinion, I think it’s absolutely beautiful, and there was no way I was gonna let one of my cousins wear it one time and then loose it. It was my great grandmother’s ring that she wore very often. So she gave it to me, and eventually I want to give it to the woman I marry.
My only concern is that the centerpiece is a sapphire, and not a diamond. All of my friends who are girls say they only want a diamond as an engagement ring. But then I explain this ring to them and they said, “It’s ok I guess” So I honestly don’t feel very confident about giving it as an engagement ring. Honestly though, I think diamonds are very overrated. Why choose clear when there are so many beautiful colors. Anyway, the ring has two diamonds on the side so best of both worlds? I proposed two days ago to my girlfriend on a trip in Copenhagen and she said yes! We had discussed it beforehand and she gave plenty of examples of what she likes, ranging from very affordable to aspirational ($50k, ha ha).
She’s a big fan of vintage, non traditional, and quirky/full of character rings. One ring we found was this beautiful 3.7ct Montana sapphire beset by smaller baguette diamonds. A bit of a big honkin’ rock but as soon as I saw it it grabbed my attention. Moderate inclusion but looks gorgeous in the light. Shipped at US8.5, resized down to 5.
Paid $6,800 from Eragem, her suggestions mostly fell between $500-$4,000. Appraised at ~11k, (how bonkers rings appraise so much higher than they actually sell for).
