My dream Oore moon ring! 🌙

Requisite ‘I can’t believe it’s finally my turn!’ I’ve known I wanted an Oore ring forever and my sweet fiancé picked each detail of this one for me and absolutely hit it out of the park (and proceeded to propose with it five times in five different cities in the US/UK 🥹) the ring is absolutely stunning and the center stone shifts colors in different lighting, from deep blue to teal to green.

Engaged on a boat in Florida on Friday the 13th. My dream ring 💚

Late posting but long time lurker!

I always knew I wanted a stone different from a diamond. I told my fiance that I wanted a sapphire (his birthday month stone) with some small diamonds. I feel so bad but for the past year I have changed my mind so many times about what I wanted but finally sent him some ideas and companies and he did perfectly.

1.4 radiant cut teal sapphire with .15 kite diamonds on the side.

Ring size 5.5 but probably will resize soon to a 5

Too good to be true?

I’m looking for advice from people with experience buying custom engagement rings, because I honestly know very little about the jewelry industry and I’m trying to figure out what’s realistic vs “too good to be true.”

I’m in Canada and recently started shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. We visited a larger boutique jeweler to figure out her style, and she loved one of their signature settings:
- 12x8mm elongated cushion lab-grown blue sapphire (~4ct)
- 3mm 18k yellow gold band
- cathedral setting with a “bezel frame with claw” design

Their quote came to about $8,000 CAD after tax.

After that, I started reaching out to local custom jewelers.

The first jeweler is younger and recently started his own business. He does the CAD/design work himself, sources the gemstone, and works with an experienced bench jeweler for production. He quoted me $3,500–$3,800 CAD for essentially the same ring (plus a euro shank). That also includes:
- 1-year workmanship warranty
- complimentary cleaning before the wedding
- insurance appraisal
- sapphire can be certified upon request

When I asked how his pricing was so much lower, he explained that his margins are intentionally slim because he’s trying to build his reputation and offer more accessible custom work as a newer business.

His work on Instagram is limited but looks good to me, he’s been extremely responsive/helpful, and he’s already sent videos of sapphires from suppliers to help me choose.

I also spoke with another local custom jeweler who has a larger online presence and more history in the industry. Their quote for the same project was about $4,450 CAD.

Both custom jewelers offer CAD renders and 3D printing during the process.

My question is: does the first quote sound suspiciously cheap, I understand the boutique store charging a huge premium for branding/showroom overhead etc. I’m trying to understand what’s normal here and what red flags I should actually be looking for.

Thank you so much in advance!

Custom is finally finished!!!

We’ve been together 9+ years and he proposed back in February while on a vacation with our parents. Ring was only mid-stages of designing, so he proposed to me with an origami ring made with the design drawing 😭. Towards the end I helped picked the sapphire and asked for the band to be hammered, but outside of that it’s all him. I AM THRILLED it’s so unique. Feels so weird to finally have it after going naked since late Feb.

Edit for some of the community preferences:

Size 6, and while I don’t know every detail, I do know both stones are a little over 1 carat, and the sapphire is from Tanzania. He very specifically chose this jeweler; they are a women-owned company and focused on ethical/traceable sourcing and low environmental impact.

What band would you get?

Got engaged in the fall. I am absolutely in love with my ring. We’re going to get bands later this week and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. I was thinking about a simple gold band but my ring is quite low profile (which is what I wanted for comfort) which might make it difficult for a band to find under. I’d like something I can wear alone without the engagement ring too.

New sapphire stone for my ring

We replaced my original stone with this beautiful 2ct emerald cut Australian Sapphire. Photos will never do her justice as she is always changing colour and sparkles like nothing I’ve ever seen.

Easiest yes of my life & the ring of my dreams 💍

Long time lurker, first time poster. It happened!!! I got the man of my dreams and the ring of my dreams all at once! Dark sapphire with bezel pavé halo setting. She’s perfect! Almost black in low light, but blue in the sun. 🖤

(Engagement was in April but I just got the pics back so posting a little late!)
