Tried to sim swap. Now I'm screwed.
So, this is on me for thinking that things would work the way they used to.
Yesterday, my phone's display broke. went to walmart and bought another straight talk phone with the intention of inserting my current, active Straight Talk sim. I assumed that this would be a smooth switch, because I've done it before.
Apparently, the moment I switched SIMs, Straight Talk deactivated my line and phone number.
I have an option to re-activate the line phone number, but it will still be tied to my old phone. There is absolutely no way to recover the old phone. It's no longer in my possession. I'm also being asked to pay for a brand new activation. (Before this, my service was good until next month.)
Reactivating that line will cost my last 50 dollars. I do not trust Straight Talk to allow me to reactivate the line AND move it to my phone without charging me more money. If I try to reactivate the line and I can't transfer it, I will have a phone number tied to no phone.
I need help and I can't get it. I can't log into any of my accounts because it's impossible for me to "enter the six digit code that we have sent to your phone".
I have been awake trying to fix this all night because I can't reach their customer support. The sun is coming up and I have not slept. I'm so close to having a nervous breakdown and I've been hyperventilating on and off. Do they answer the customer support line? The customer support chat seems designed purely for the purpose of making people feel trapped and helpless.
