Anything and everything to do in Philly

I’m a PhD student so I’m looking for activities or clubs to join.

I wanna get involved in anything and everything. I’m trying to be a part of the Philly run club, I wanna join the consulting club at Penn, I know I love rock climbing and hiking.

Any socials ANYTHING is appreciated. I DO NOT wanna just grind. It’s fundamentally gonna burn me out. From past few years if research and working in a lab I know I need a healthy balance and NEED to decompress on weekends. So I’m open to anything pretty much.

How hard is a proteomics class for a DS / physics major?

I’m an incoming PhD in MR physics lab, and I wanna pair the work I’ve done with proteomics (radiomics + proteomics).

I plan to take the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics class. How challenging is it and how much bio background is needed?

Any other suggestions for proteomics or Comp Bio related coursework?

Clubs and organizations to join at Penn

Hello everyone, I’m an incoming Penn bioengineering PhD student. What are some clubs you recommend for someone hoping to transition into industry? Or just have more fun during their time as a grad student?

Any consulting clubs, hiking clubs, I’m open to trying anything. I just wanna come out of this a a a more wholistic person. Not just an expert in a niche area. I’m very nervous about getting too into research that I don’t develop other parts of my personality (or lose out on what I have)

When do classes open? How do I sign up? PhD

I’m starting classes in the fall and there was an email that went out about classes however I don’t know where to go to sign up for them.

Have any other bioengineering people sighed up for their coursework? Would love to connect it’s just nice to be part of a group as we navigate this

My bigger question is regarding coursework. I wanna make sure the classes I take are relevant. My PI isn’t really helpful with this.

If any medical physics or biophysics PhD students wanna connect that would be great :)

Perks and privileges of being a Penn PhD Student?

Hey All,

I’m an incoming PhD student interested in learning more about the perks they Penn offers on and off campus. Discounts, access or any privileges I should make full use of. (Anything you regret not doing enough?)

Free gym, cheaper memberships, better reservations or wherever you can think of.
