You can fully ignore The Punisher Netflix solo show into the MCU and works better

The beginning of season 1 shows him taking down all the street criminal organizations envolved in his family death, than later we found out there was a bigger conspiracy with bigger fish and all that. Than the second season ends with him fully embracing the skull and going after random street thugs, unrelated to his family death.

But as implied in Born Again and shown in One Last Kill, there was still one more street criminal organization that he was hunting, the Gnuccis. So the solo Netflix show makes no sense, beggining to end. The show already implied he kill em all and that he became The Punisher. But we see in Born Again and One Last Kill, he still after revenge only. In One Last Kill, Theres nothing connecting to the plot of the show besides a frame of flashbacks of dream sequences from season 1 and Curtis, which anyone who didnt watched the show can connect dots and realize is a friend of Frank and ex brother in arms.

So if you take only Netflix Daredevil season 2 and jump straight to Born Again, his storyline makes more sense. Him using the skull for the first time, coming out of his blowing old house accepting he is The Punisher, with unsolved business of his family death at the end of Daredevil. Than in Born Again we see from the news he continued after that, leaving some more trail of blood and is hunting for the last crime family envolved in his family death. To finally One Last Kill that he finally kills them all, feels lost after that and fully accepts his Punisher identity by going after random criminals.

Besides the fact that the Netflix solo show version is very different from Daredevil's, Daredevil Born Again and One Last Kill. He is merciful, tries to settle down more than once, do many out of character actions. Him snapping and going crazy after all the envolved are dead once and than becoming the real Punisher, makes way more sense tham him settling once to become a constructor and than settling again in some small town

Billy Butcher was nerfed badly in The Boys

As bad as The Boys comic might be, one thing it got right: The Boys. Specially Butcher. Butcher in the comics is a menace. He is feared by most supes and gets the job done. He single handly killed way more supes than any other character, he is like The Punisher for supes but with a grin on his face and a british accent. He is a character worthy of being Homelander arch nemesis and the whole story is focused on his path for vengeance, alongside Hughie.

The show ruined all this, threw at the trash and turned him into a incompetent bum who only gets thrown around by supes. Even him with powers, he gets thrown around like a doll. They try to present him as this menancing guy but we dont see none of that besides outside the supe world, which is what the fucking show is all about, the supe world. He always needs someone to save him or aid him in a fight. And to make matters worst, his protagonism gets sidelined to focus on other uninteresting characters like Starlight. Its infuriating. He was supposed to be the main guy who would be at the same level almost of fear inducing like Homelander, so they could be almost like different sides of the same coin. So there would be an actual hype for their final fight. While Homelander feels like the main antagonist, Butcher doesnt feel like the main protagonist.

I thought maybe now that he has V, he would go on a rampage this season. Fuck no, those ugly tentacles serves for almost fucking nothing. Comic Butcher feels like a force of nature. Show Butcher feels like a joke, not a threat. The supes in the show kills more supes than The Boys. Its crazy. And dont get me started at the rest of The Boys crew with their personal moral dramas for 5 fucking seasons

MCU Punisher is a perfect Max Payne

Jumping and gunning aside, Jon Bernthal might disappoint the fans with his non comic accurate version of the Punisher, but he hit the best Max Payne adaptation ever put on screen. The whole character is Max Payne, specially the Max Payne 3 one.

- The drinking his sorrows in his shitty apartment,

taking pills,

- crying over his family many times as a more emotional impulsive guy, having a psychological drama

- something always bringing him back to action even when he tries to settle because he is deeply connected to the violence and chaos.

- Him falling for women, getting love interests more easily.

- Him not being very tactical and just running and gunning

- Him having a deadpan sense of humor and cracking some asshole jokes

- Even the whole conspiracy thing around the death of his family is a common Max Payne trope

This is what Mark Wahlberg failed to do in his adaptation. Jon Bernthal played the best Max Payne and we didnt even noticed. He barely wears the skull anyway, so you would just need to change the title lol
