The Seahawks were the first Superbowl Winners to not be covered by the top broadcast teams on Sunday since the 1984 49ers

Quirk I noticed when watching a highlights package of our season the other day was that we didn't have Burkhardt/Brady or Nantz/Romo during the regular season. Decided to see if that was the case with any other Superbowl winner, and the 84 49ers were the only ones I could tell that it was true for.

Reasons for Seahawks not being covered by either A team were fairly clear, the only game that stands out is obviously Week 11 @ Rams, but Burkhardt/Brady were at Bears v Vikings in the early slot, presumably due to Seahawks v Rams going up against a Chiefs v Broncos matchup, which ended up having the 3rd highest viewing figures for a Sunday game at 29 million viewers.

The 84 49ers were before my time, but looking back at their schedule to see why they ended up not being covered by a main Sunday broadcast team, their games against the Redskins and Giants were Monday Night affairs (they didn't play the Cowboys), whilst their matchup with the Steelers only aired in San Francisco markets because they were up against Game 5 of the World Series. Of their 11 games on CBS, 9 of them were covered by the Brookshier/Walker team.
