Trial of the Seven in HOTD
Okay, so I had this idea and now I can't get it out of my head. Imagine, the Dance of the dragons didn't happen and instead we had the Trial of the Seven between Rhaenyra and Aegon's teams.
Now, in Aegon's team, we would obviously have prince Aemond Targaryen, Criston Cole, Arryk Cargyll, etc.
In Rhaenyra's, definitely Daemon Targaryen, Erryk Cargyll, Steffon Darklyn, etc.
The big question I have for the people is who would win. Because that's just something interesting to think and fantasize about. Sure, dragons are cool and scary and all the mayhem across the seven kingdoms and family members killing each other, dragons burning everything down is cinematic and massive, but I think this kind of battle would resolve the "inheritance" issue rather quickly and without unnecessary bloodshed amongst the civilians and other houses.
