Stock Advice

Hello, I am new to investing but I have done a bit of research into understanding stock markets, tickers, types of investments etc. However, I am still stumped as to where to start.

I would like to start small and I have no interest in options or day trading as I’m looking to accumulate wealth over time in a stable manner. As far as I can help myself I am thinking the best direction to start in is to invest in stocks with a positive dividend yield and that have low barriers of entry (share price).

So to those with more time in the market, where did you begin? Where would you suggest I begin? Is my (very preliminary) strategy sensible?
